On 6 April, the American Historical Association, in collaboration with American Oversight, filed a lawsuit challenging a recent memorandum issued by the US Department of Justice.
This memorandum declares the Presidential Records Act unconstitutional. This could block public access to hundreds of millions of documents and pose a serious risk to transparency and records management across the entire executive branch, including the National Archives.
Further information about this lawsuit and the opportunity to support the American Historical Association financially by donating to their advocacy fund can be found on the AHA’s website.
